Text to "denounce" the Franco-Algerian agreement: Abdelkader Lahmar sees it as "the return of the OAS to the assembly"

This is a first in the history of the Fifth Republic. The National Assembly has adopted a text from the National Rally on the Franco-Algerian agreement of 1968, provoking the anger of the left, in particular the deputies from the Rhône.
A bombshell dropped on the assembly this Thursday morning. For the first time, a bill from the National Rally (RN) was adopted by the National Assembly. This bill aims to "denounce" the 1968 Franco-Algerian agreement, which grants Algerians specific provisions regarding immigration and residency in France. Approved by a single vote thanks to the support of the right wing and the Horizons party (185 to 184), the bill immediately sparked outrage among left-wing members of parliament.
They particularly criticized the absence of the Macronist camp: "Where is Gabriel Attal? Where are the Macronist deputies? What we just experienced in the chamber is unacceptable," denounced Cyrielle Chatelain, from the Ecologist and Social group.
Among the angry MPs were Abdelkader Lahmar (LFI, 7th constituency of the Rhône), accompanied by Anaïs Belouassa-Cherifi (LFI, 1st constituency of the Rhône), now a candidate in the Lyon municipal elections. Lahmar did not hesitate to share his anger on LCP radio: "As the son of Algerian immigrants, what worries me today is hearing MPs who almost consider us enemies within," he exclaimed.
He continues: "What is worrying is that a racist, hateful text can be voted on with the complicity of this famous republican right that calls itself Gaullist, when I think General de Gaulle must be turning in his grave. It's the return of the OAS," the rebellious MP insists.
